Abu Dhabi, 13th March, 2016: Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas who is on an official visit to UAE participated in the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Abu Dhabi today.
The event was organized by the Embassy of India in its auditorium on Wednesday. More than 275 students from eight schools following Indian curriculum participated in the event which comprised of poetry recital and speech contests in Hindi and English languages. Photographs of Dr Ambedkar were exhibited and a biographical film on Dr. Ambedkar screened. Ambassador of India Mr. TP Seetharam was also present on the occasion.
The Union Minister of State Shri Pradhan addressed the gathering and stated that he was extremely happy to see that Indian students in UAE were closely connected with their roots as well as the values promoted by Dr. Ambedkar. He said that Dr. Ambedkar was far ahead of his time and was a true visionary for a more equitable and progressive India.
Shri Pradhan distributed the prizes to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position winners of the poetry and speech contests.
